· ITV (Independent Television) is the major commercial public service TV network in the United Kingdom.
· Launched in 1955 under the auspices of the Independent Television Authority (ITA) to provide competition to the BBC, it is also the oldest commercial network in the UK.
· Unlike many of the TV channels in the UK, ITV is not owned by one single company.
· ITV is to be distinguished from ITV plc, the company that resulted from the merger of Granada plc and Carlton Communications in 2004 and which is the parent of ITV Broadcasting Limited.

· Founded on October 16, 1923, by Walt Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions, Ltd. in 1929, and became publicly-traded as Walt Disney Productions in 1938.
· The Walt Disney Company is the largest media group in the world in terms of revenue.
· Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media.
· Robert Iger is the current President and CEO of Disney, while John E. Pepper Jr is the current chairman.
Disney also owns and operates the;
· ABC broadcast television network
· cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN,
· publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions;
· and owns and licenses 14 theme parks around the world.

· EMAP (East Midlands Allied Press) Limited is a British media group who specialise in the production of business-to-business magazines, the organisation of business events and conferences.

· Apax Partners LLP, who are a global private equity and venture capital firm, headquartered in London and
· Guardian Media Group (GMG), who are a company of the United Kingdom owning various mass media operations including The Guardian and The Observer. The Group is owned by the Scott Trust.
